A gentle path,
from first stitch to heirloom
The Academy is taught the way Shonda was taught — slowly, with patience, and always with kindness. There are no graded tests, no rushing, and no wrong way to learn at your own pace.
The Foundation
We begin with simple things — choosing your fabric, threading a needle, understanding tension. No rush. No pressure.
The Gentle Stitch
Your first real seams. French seams, hems, gathers. The quiet building blocks of every heirloom garment.
Smocking & Detail
The hand-smocked bodice — the soul of a true heirloom dress. Pleating, picture smocking, embroidered florals.
Your First Heirloom
A complete child's dress — finished, pressed, ready to be worn and saved. Made by your hands, for someone you love.

If you are nervous, this is the right place for you.
I have taught women who had never threaded a needle in their lives — and watched them finish a smocked dress for a grandchild just months later. You do not need to be talented. You do not need to be patient. You only need to want to make something with your own two hands. I will walk you through every step.
